OUR MISSION

The Department of School Nutrition in Framingham is dedicated to helping families provide healthy meals for their children. We understand the importance of good nutrition for a child's growth and well-being, so we offer a variety of nutritious options to meet diverse dietary needs. Our meals meet nutritional guidelines and appeal to students' tastes, featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. We are committed to continually improving our offerings to ensure that all students have access to healthy choices.


Our mission is to promote healthy eating through high-quality nutrition programs. We believe no child should go hungry and work with families, schools, and the community to create an environment where healthy eating is the norm for all students in Framingham.

  • Breakfast at all schools - $2.00
    Elementary School lunch - $4.00
    High School lunch - $4.00
    Middle School lunch - $4.00
    Reduced breakfast - $0.30
    Reduced lunch - $0.40
    Milk - $0.60

    Please note all rates are reviewed annually.

  • No, becuase the chocolate milk that we currently serve can be offered as part of a reimbursable breakfast or lunch because it meets the applicable school meal requirements. However, it does not meet the requirements to be sold separately as an à la carte/competitive beverage.

    *Therefore, students may select chocolate milk as part of their reimbursable meal, but our cafeteria staff cannot sell the chocolate milk separately.

    Effective July 1, 2025, the USDA implemented new nutrition standards under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP), including the first federal limits on added sugars in flavored milk. Massachusetts DESE has provided guidance to School Food Authorities regarding these new requirements.

    This is not a School Nutrition Department preference or a decision being made by individual cafeteria staff. We are required to follow the USDA and Massachusetts DESE nutrition standards governing the foods and beverages that can be sold to students.

    Under the updated requirements:

    • Flavored milk served as part of a school meal may contain no more than 10 grams of added sugars per 8 fluid ounces.
    • Flavored milk sold as a competitive food in middle and high schools may contain no more than 15 grams of added sugars per 12 fluid ounces.

  • Yes, all schools are served lunch before students are dismissed on early release days.

  • Yes, you can set up online payments with the MySchoolBucks program.

  • We serve breakfast and lunch at all schools every day, as well as milk and various snacks.
