Framingham Education Channel (FEC) is a school district owned Cable TV Station programmed and operated by TV Broadcast students at Framingham High School. The purpose of the Framingham Education Channel is to provide School Committee and School Department news and information and showcase and distribute the school districts’ TV production program.

FEC provides TV students a place to demonstrate their new-found TV production knowledge, skills and craftsmanship by airing student productions on Framingham’s three cable platforms, Comcast CH 8, Verizon CH 41 and RCN CH 15.

FEC airs Flyer News, a student produced daily local district newscast (when school is in session), district sporting events, musical and theatrical events, student produced mini-movies, serials and music videos, live broadcasts of the School Committee meetings and other information-based programming the school district might wish to release that is Framingham student produced. FEC-TV strives to inform, instruct, and even entertain, just like any other TV station.

FEC seeks to syndicate other content produced outside the district which has been deemed to have educational value similar to the Chelmsford High produced math series, “Math with Matthew,” currently airing on the channel.

FEC-TV’s intention is to give our TV students a realistic experience working in a professional environment, while teaching them well established broadcast practices.

FEC added Video on Demand and Live Streaming of programs, in order to better accommodate contemporary viewing practices. The town has funded the technology upgrade of all existing FEC-TV facilities and students are now primarily producing just about everything in High Definition (HD).

Additionally, as a member of the local cable-casters community, we are lobbying state and local legislators to mandate the cable companies to upgrade all Public Access channels with an Electronic Program Guide and HD channel bandwidth.

FEC has also upgraded our Web page to better inform viewers of upcoming programs and program changes. We can also start hearing from you, our audience, so please take a few moments and let us know what you like and what you think about our channel.

Hope to hear from you,

Paul Bouley
