FPS Psychologist Soraia Leite Named 2025 Massachusetts School Psychologist of the Year
Framingham Public Schools is proud to announce that Soraia Leite, who serves as psychologist at Framingham High School, has been selected as the 2025 School Psychologist of the Year by the Massachusetts School Psychologists Association (MSPA). This prestigious statewide recognition honors her remarkable impact on students, families, colleagues, and the broader educational community.
Ms. Leite was nominated by colleagues who describe her as the “quintessential school psychologist,” citing her deep commitment to culturally responsive, equity-centered practice. Her extensive work conducting bilingual evaluations in Spanish and Portuguese, supporting families navigating complex systems, and advocating for fair and accurate identification of disabilities set her apart in this year’s selection process.
Ms. Leite is widely recognized for her expertise in evaluating multilingual learners and her adherence to evidence-based practices. She is celebrated not only for her technical and clinical skill but also for her emotional intelligence, which has made her a trusted voice within the district and a sought-after mentor to others in the field.
“[Soraia] is a model of the scientist-practitioner, demonstrating intellectual curiosity, thoughtful reflection, and a steadfast commitment to equity,” the MSPA noted in their announcement. “Her ability to hold space for complex conversations, listen with empathy, and elevate those around her has left a lasting impression on colleagues and families alike.”
Shavonne Lord, the Director of Health and Wellness at Framingham Public Schools, shared her appreciation for Ms. Leite. “We are incredibly proud to celebrate this recognition. It is a testament to Soraia’s dedication to supporting FPS students over many years. Her compassion and tireless work are the gold standard of school psychology. We are fortunate to have her ensuring the well-being of our students and families, as well as guiding and mentoring our young school psychologists.”
“I am thankful for the opportunity to serve culturally and linguistically diverse students, each of whom enriches our school community,” said Soraia Leite. “This recognition is not mine alone. It reflects the ever-present guidance and support of the leadership at Framingham, and the incredible collaboration with my colleagues and fellow psychologists. Most importantly, I share this award with the students who remind me every day why this work matters so deeply. I am truly grateful, and so proud, to be a part of Framingham Public Schools.”
The Framingham School Committee will recognize Ms. Leite for this achievement at their upcoming meeting on Wednesday, December 3.
