How Community Collaboration Brought Toys to 160+ Local Families
24 Hours. One Box Truck. Over 160 Smiling Faces. When a Boston-based company reached out with a massive donation and a box truck overflowing with gifts, Shana Adams, Nicole Doak, and incoming City Council Member Mary Kate Feeney had less than 24 hours to make a miracle happen, and their first thought was Framingham. In a remarkable display of teamwork, our FPS Family Support Coordinators jumped into high gear to meet the challenge.
Together, they spent the day unpacking and organizing a literal truckload of joy—ranging from classic board games and baby dolls to Blues Clues favorites, stuffed animals, and art supplies. This rapid-response effort ensured that the donation reached over 160 children and families across our PEL sites, BLOCKS, Barbieri, Harmony Grove, McCarthy, Potter Road, Stapleton, Hemenway, Dunning, Fuller, Walsh, Hoops and Homework, Family Promise and SMOC. It was a beautiful reminder of what we can achieve when the community works together to support our neighbors, ensuring that no opportunity to give back goes to waste.
An extra special thanks to Fabio Vailant, Tami Miqueta, and Eliza DeCarvalho for your hard work and coordination today during the distribution. Your smiles were contagious and truly captured the spirit of the season.
