January 21, 2026  (Framingham, MA) — Framingham Public Schools is proud to announce that King Elementary School was recognized as a 2025 School of Recognition by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).  Mr. James Bergeron, Principal of King Elementary School and Dr. Robert Tremblay, Superintendent of Schools attended a special celebration on the Grand Staircase of the State House in Boston yesterday.
As part of the annual state reporting process, DESE designates a small cohort of schools as "Schools of Recognition" in honor of their superior academic results and substantial growth milestones. King Elementary School was identified as one of the select group of schools from across the Commonwealth to be recognized.Â
“Being named a DESE School of Recognition is a tremendous honor that belongs to our hardworking educators, our students, and the families who make the King community what it is,” said James Bergeron, Principal of King Elementary School. “At King, we believe that all students can and will succeed with the appropriate support, and this milestone is a reflection of that collective commitment. Thank you to our incredible students and staff for your dedication and for making this achievement possible. I also want to take a moment to share my appreciation for our partners at the district level.”  Â
“What an honor it was today to sit beside Principal Bergeron at the Grand Staircase in the Massachusetts State House and to be recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Commonwealth’s Secretary of Education, and to do so in the presence of Framingham’s legislative delegation from the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives,” said Dr. Robert A. Tremblay, Superintendent of the Framingham Public Schools. “To be clear, however, Principal Bergeron and I were acting as representatives of the incredible work done by the dedicated educators and support staff at King Elementary School and in our Office of Teaching and Learning. It is because of their commitment to our instructional priorities and their dedicated service to our students every day that we were afforded this recognition.”
"King Elementary’s designation as a School of Recognition is a powerful validation of the school and district’s alignment and fidelity to our core values. It demonstrates what is possible when everyone shares a commitment to high-quality instruction, consistent communication, and professional learning,” said Assistant Superintendent Anne Ludes. “This achievement highlights the incredible partnership between the district, the dedicated staff at King, and our families. It truly takes everyone working collaboratively to foster such resilience and academic growth, and I am incredibly proud of Principal Bergeron and his team for modeling what student-centered excellence looks like in Framingham."
The Framingham School Committee will recognize Principal James Bergeron, Vice Principal Patrick Gilman, and the entire King Staff at their meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. You can find more information about this event from the DESE Press Release linked here.Â
