Back to School Update Series - Video 14: Multilingual Education
Engaging our multilingual students during distance learning is among our District priorities. All teachers are responsible for supporting their students to acquire English and achieve in their content area subjects. Just as ESL teachers bring their expertise in language development, general education teachers provide English learners with opportunities to practice and refine their developing language skills. Teachers will utilize all available online resources to promote student interaction and support students in accessing content. During the Graduated Hybrid Model, all English learners who fall into the district's “high needs” group will return to school for in-person instruction on October 26, 2020 and will continue to come to school every day. A list of translated available resources for families to use are found on the Multilingual Education website. The Translations and Interpretation Office is also available to support communication to our multilingual families in a language they understand.
