Framingham Public Schools Has Begun The Search Process for the Next Director of Special Education

Wednesday, May 22, 2024 (Framingham, MA) - Framingham Public Schools has begun a search for a new Director of Special Education, following Laura Spear’s announcement earlier this Spring that she will be leaving at the end of the school year to assume a position in Lexington Public Schools. We are grateful for Ms. Spear’s decades of service in Framingham Public Schools and wish her the very best of luck in her new journey.

An interview committee composed of 14 individuals, representing teachers, service providers, parents, administrators, and the School Committee, will begin looking at candidates the week of May 20 with interviews currently scheduled for May 28 and May 29. Following their recommendations, the Cabinet will identify finalists and provide an opportunity for community input should more than one finalist emerge. Under Massachusetts General Laws and School Committee Policy BBA, the Superintendent of Schools makes the recommendation for the appointment for Director of Special Education to the School Committee.

This announcement has been shared with the Framingham Community and is available on our website in English, Spanish, and Portuguese: https://bit.ly/FPS052224
