Notice of Destruction of Special Education Records 2021 in Framingham Public Schools

July 23, 2021 (Framingham, MA):

In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 603 CMR 23.06 (3), the Framingham Public Schools will be destroying records of special education students who graduated, transferred, withdrew, or aged out as of June 2013 and June 2014.

Special Education records which have been collected by the Framingham Public Schools related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of Special Education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for a period of seven years after Special Education services have ended for the student. Special Education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, moves from the district, or completes their educational program at age 22.

Students who wish to receive their personal student files should call the Department of Special Education at (508) 626-9123 between 9am and 3pm Monday through Friday no later than August 2, 2021. Files will be made available for pick-up from August 9, 2021 - August 13, 2021.  A state-issued form of identification will be required to retrieve records. The Special Education Department is located at 19 Flagg Drive, Framingham, MA 01702.
