Volunteers needed to mentor 5th grade students for IB Exhibition
We are looking for 25 English and/or Portuguese speaking volunteers to mentor Harmony Grove 5th graders with their IB PYP Exhibition projects!

What is the IB PYP Exhibition?

At International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) schools around the world, students in 5th grade do a final inquiry project called the PYP Exhibition where they research and take action to share what they learn with their community.
What is the role of a mentor?
-
Facilitate five 30 minute meetings with your group of 3-5 students
-
Encourage and support students by:
-
asking questions to promote thinking and reflection
-
helping with research and self-management skills
-
clarifying difficult information as needed
-
suggesting ways students can take action in our community
-
giving feedback to help students reflect on their learning and their next steps

When will the help of a mentor be needed?
-
Mentors will meet once a week for 30 minutes for the five weeks leading up the Exhibition Day on Thursday June 8th

Preferred days & times:
-
May 4, May 11, May 18, May 25, June 1

Time options (same each week): 10:30-11:00 or 11:00-11:30

If you are interested in mentoring but cannot meet on the preferred days & times, we may be able to coordinate the meetings at a different day or time

Harmony Grove Elementary School, 169 Leland St. Framingham, MA in the 5th grade classrooms
Who do we need as mentors?
-
Any interested adult can be a mentor! You must submit a CORI form to FPS first.

Looking for English and/or Portuguese speaking mentors!

You must be able to commit to meeting every week, May 4- June 1
