Beyond the Black and White: Mentors and Models
It's Teacher Appreciation Week and we're launching Beyond the Black and White to showcase student and staff spotlights - so your first feature is from the Mentors and Models category!
Please see below to meet two FPS Teachers that earned recognition and the opportunity to kick off this series!
Mentors and Models: Taylor Collins and Chris Ocampo, both Teachers at Framingham High School
Submitted By: Alison Courchesne, Framingham High School Librarian
Nomination Details: Taylor and Chris run a monthly "First Friday" gathering for FHS Teachers at a local establishment. It's not just the gathering which builds camaraderie, but they also fundraise for a different charity each month and intentionally rotate the local establishment to support a different local business each month.
As part of this, they also start each month off by requesting anonymous positive shout-outs from staff members to highlight what other staff members are doing to make the school a better place.
Thank you Chris and Taylor for going above and beyond - and for being mentors and models to your colleagues and for your students!
Mentors and Models Criteria
Staff at our schools play a critical role in helping shape students into passionate, driven individuals. This role goes far beyond academic teaching; staff are constant mentors and role models for how students should live their best lives. We hope to recognize any staff member who has an outstanding influence on their school’s community and students. This is not limited to teachers.
Staff and students are invited to submit in any of the 7 categories of Beyond the Black and White to feature creative work and accomplishments. Learn more: www.framingham.k12.ma.us/beyondtheblackandwhite
