MEMORANDUM

DATE: August 27, 2018

TO: Framingham Public School Families

FROM: Dr. Robert A. Tremblay, Superintendent of Schools

RE: First Day of School 2018

Framingham Public Schools staff members have been hard at work preparing for the arrival of students this week! Regrettably, the heat continues to be a challenge in many of our schools without air conditioning.

I will be watching the weather closely for the entire week, but for now Wednesday, August 29th - our first day of school for students in Grades 1-12 - will be a half day of school. Students will be dismissed on August 29th as follows:

Thayer High School Campus 10:50 a.m.
Framingham High School  10:50 a.m.
McCarthy Elementary School 11:15 a.m.
Cameron, Fuller and Walsh Middle Schools  11:25 a.m.
Brophy, Hemenway and Potter Road Elementary Schools 12:15 p.m.
King Elementary School 12:20 p.m.
Barbieri, Dunning, Stapleton, and Woodrow Wilson Elementary Schools 12:05 p.m.

Please note that breakfast will be served, but lunch will not be served on Wednesday. All after school programs and activities will be canceled.

This day will not have to be made up at the end of the school year. It is my hope that with this advance notice families can make any necessary childcare arrangements. Information about how to be safe in this extreme heat can be found here

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I hope to see you at the Back-to-School Picnic at Farm Pond Park on Thursday afternoon!

UPDATE: As of 11:50am on Tuesday August 28th, individual schools have been listed next to the 12:05 dismissal time. These include Barbieri, Dunning, Stapleton, and Woodrow Wilson Elementary Schools.
