Framingham Public Schools Office of Community Resource Development Launches Expanded Online Enrichment with Daily Take-Home Activities and Podcasts
Framingham, MA (April 21, 2020) - On Monday, April 6, 2020 Framingham Public Schools officially launched the Remote Learning Website which contained content aimed at providing an organized means for students to review previously taught material. Weekly calendars, organized by grade level or department, are updated by teachers in a collaborative manner before going through translation into Spanish and Portuguese. The final calendars for each upcoming week are embedded into Framingham Public Schools’ Remote Learning Website.
Prior to the official launch of the Remote Learning Website, the District had organized a vetted list of enrichment resources to support academic activities for students, as well as engagement resources for parents and guardians.
Adding to the incredible effort of Framingham Public School Teachers, Support Staff, and Administrators, the Office of Community Resource Development (CRD) is excited to announce the expanded launch of educational enrichment opportunities online for all students from Pre-k - High School. CRD, which coordinates after school programming including signature programs such as Little Explorers, Explorers, Flyers After School, and Flyers by Night has been working to create project-based enrichment activities online that are easily accessible to students across the district. Families can now visit CRD’s website (FPSCRD.org/AtHome) to access the new material which will be updated daily throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, our out-of-school time (OST) staff have been working diligently to develop content to keep students and families engaged and active,” said Tiffany Lillie, Director of CRD. “All of the activities we created can be viewed online and are accompanied by instructions translated into Spanish and Portuguese. We’ve also organized original content in Spanish and Portuguese.’’
In addition to the daily posting of project-based activities, CRD is excited to launch the following new initiatives:
The Explorers Podcast hosted by Amanda Lloyd, Coordinator for Explorers at King Elementary School.
The goal of the podcast is to keep families connected with the Explorers program while also exploring different topics related to out of school time.
