Framingham Public Schools to Discuss School Climate Survey and Results at a Special Information Session
Families are invited to hear from Dr. Tremblay and Ms. Judy Styer, Director of Health and Wellness Department, on the Panorama Education Survey

February 28, 2019 (Framingham, MA): In an effort to learn more about student and family experiences in Framingham, the Public School District is partnering with Panorama Education for the third consecutive year to conduct district-wide family (preschool - grades 12) and student surveys for children (grades 3-12). Through the surveys administered last year, the district gained valuable information about the climate and culture of our schools. The results of those surveys help inform both school-based and district-wide initiatives to support the social and emotional health of our community. Reviewing the results year-over-year helps the District make informed decisions to prioritize improvement efforts in areas of greatest need.

Excerpts of the 2017-2018 parent/guardian and student survey results can be found on the Framingham Public Schools website. Families are invited to review the data and contact the Health and Wellness Department with any questions. They can be reached at 508-626-9197.

The Survey
The 2018-2019 Panorama Education Survey launched this week. The surveys are being administered earlier this school year than in years past, as it will allow for real-time progress and improvement opportunities once the survey results are received. Additionally, the survey will be completed prior to the MCAS testing time. The surveys will be the same as those previously administered, which will help the district track our progress over time, and will include the following measures:

  • Student/Family Engagement: How involved are students/families with their schools?

  • School Climate: How do you see the overall social and learning climate of the school?

  • Teacher/Student and Family Relationships: How strong is the social connection between teachers and students within and beyond school?

Information Session
Framingham Public Schools will be hosting a first-of-its-kind Information Session to have a two-way dialogue surrounding the impact of family partnership with these surveys. District leaders will review last year's data, share details on the action steps based on survey results, and shed light on the importance of family and student feedback. Food, childcare, and translation services will be provided to encourage family engagement around this important topic. Parents and/or Guardians are encouraged to register in advance on Eventbrite or on Facebook so that child care staffing and food quantities can be considered. For anyone that cannot attend in person, this event will also be broadcasted via Facebook Live.
