Framingham Public Schools is Pleased to Announce the Appointment of John P. Maynard as the Principal of King Elementary School
Framingham, MA – June 6, 2018: Dr. Robert Tremblay, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to appoint Mr. John P. Maynard as Principal of George P. King Elementary School. Mr. Maynard previously held Vice Principal positions at both Woodrow Wilson Elementary School and Fuller Middle School. He is very much looking forward to returning to Framingham to see King Elementary School through its first life cycle, welcoming new learners each year, and continuing to lead the STEAM efforts that are valued so highly in this school and in Framingham.
“Having had the opportunity to see Mr. Maynard’s interactions with students and staff at his school during my site visit, it was clear that his ability to build relationships will translate easily to the King community,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Tremblay. “His vision for extending learning opportunities through interdisciplinary, project-based learning further solidifies that he is the right fit to advance the great work that began under Ms. Taylor’s leadership at King Elementary School, particularly around the integration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). I am thrilled that Mr. Maynard will be joining our team!”
Mr. Maynard is currently a Principal at Winthrop Elementary School in Melrose, Massachusetts. Having begun his educational career as a teacher in the Horace Mann Middle School in Franklin, he also taught in the American School of Campinas (Lower School) in Brazil before working in Framingham from 2009 - 2013. Mr. Maynard graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts and earned a Master of Arts in History as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Northeastern University. He also has a Master of Education in Education Administration from Harvard University.
