2018-2019 Bus Transportation Registration - Press Release

MEMORANDUM

Framingham, MA - May 3, 2018: Do you need bus transportation for the 2018 - 2019 school year? Framingham Public Schools has just opened registration and are asking all families to submit requests online using the Aspen X2 Portal (http://bit.ly/FPSX2).

Parents or Guardians seeking bus transportation or changes to automatic bus assignments can sign up and register online using their child’s LASID number. The deadline for transportation registration is June 15, 2018

Students will not be assigned to a bus unless a request for transportation is received and approved by the Transportation Department. Transportation requests received after the June 15th deadline may not be processed until after the start of school year.

Please see below and identify the appropriate grade level for the 2018-2019 school year and home location information to determine your eligibility and next steps.

Grades K-5

  • Students in grades K – 5 who live outside the 2 mile limit of their assigned school, will be automatically assigned a bus stop close to their residential address. There is no fee.
  • Students in grades K – 5 who live between 1 - 2 miles of their assigned school must submit a transportation request via Aspen X2. (Seats will be offered based on availability). If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for free/reduced lunch.
  • Transportation is not provided to students who live within 1 mile of their assigned school; consideration may be made if a student has to cross a major road such as Route 9. If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for free/reduced lunch.

Grade 6

  • Students in grade 6 who live outside the 2 mile limit of their assigned school must submit a transportation request via Aspen X2. There is no fee.
  • Students in grade 6 who live between 1 - 2 miles of their assigned school must submit a transportation request via Aspen X2. (Seats will be offered based on availability). If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for  free/reduced lunch.
  • Transportation is not provided to students who live within 1 mile of their assigned school; consideration may be made if a student has to cross a major road such as Route 9. If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for free/reduced lunch.

Grades 7-12

  • First Priority: Students in grades 6 - 12 who live outside the 2 mile limit of their assigned school must submit a transportation request via Aspen X2. (Seats will be offered based on availability). If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for free/reduced lunch.
  • Second Priority: Students in grades 6 – 12 who live between 1 - 2 miles of their assigned school must submit a transportation request via Aspen X2. (Seats will be offered based on availability). If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for free/reduced lunch.
  • Third Priority: Transportation is not provided to students that live within 1 mile of their assigned school; consideration may be made if a student has to cross a major road such as Route 9. If requested and approved, a transportation fee will apply or will be waived if the student qualifies for the free / reduced lunch.

If you have a child in grades K-5 who lives outside the 2 mile limit of their assigned school AND/OR a student with included transportation due to an IEP through the Special Education Office and want to decline or change your automatic bus assignment, please indicate this through the same Transportation Request form within the Aspen X2 Portal (http://bit.ly/FPSX2). Examples of this include:

  • Parents who intend to use parent pick up/drop off
  • Parents who need to request an alternate stop/daycare location for grades K-5
