Leadership Changes at Fuller Middle School
Sunday, August 11, 2019
This evening families of Fuller Middle School received the following email:
Dear Fuller Families:
I am writing to follow up to the communication you received that Jose Duarte, Principal of Fuller Middle School, will not be returning to Fuller for the upcoming school year. Mr. Duarte has accepted a leadership position in another school district. We thank Mr. Duarte for his service to the Fuller community and wish him well in his future professional endeavors.
Although this news comes to us late and at a critical time for Fuller, we have skilled leaders in place to move us ahead to ensure that we do not lose momentum with our teaching and learning efforts as well as an exciting school building project. I have appointed Ms. Kerry Wood, Assistant Director of Secondary Education for the Framingham Public Schools, to serve as Interim Principal of Fuller Middle School. A former Fuller department head, Ms. Wood is a gifted instructional leader with experience in the development of the turnaround work in which our team is fully engaged. I am confident that her proven ability to establish trusting and respectful relationships with all stakeholders will ensure her success in the upcoming year.
Mr. Michael Stevens, Vice Principal at Fuller Middle School, will remain in his current role to ensure consistency at Fuller Middle School and will be a key liaison for the school building project. Mr. Stevens will work to ensure safe student arrival and dismissal procedures, he will partner with Principal Cyndy Page at McCarthy Elementary School as they collaborate to closely monitor major traffic pattern shifts on Flagg Drive, and he will support Ms. Wood in her role as the school’s primary instructional leader.
In the coming months, we will move forward with a full Principal search so that a permanent principal can be named for a July 1, 2020 start. We look forward to an outstanding school year ahead and welcoming everyone back on August 28th.
Very truly yours,
Robert A. Tremblay, Superintendent
Framingham Public Schools
