Dunning Reads A Book A Day Summer Challenge

We are so excited to kick off our Dunning Summer Learning Program for 2019! The goal of this program is to keep our community of readers and learners going strong even through the summertime!

This year, we are launching a school wide Book-A-Day challenge for the month of July. We are encouraging Dunning students to interact with a book in some way (read a whole book or just part of it) every day for the month of July. Any book or reading material counts!

On Move-Up day, K-4 students received a tracking sheet to record their reading, as well as an information packet explaining the program.

There are 3 ways students can participate.

1. Read a book at home and write the title on the tracking sheet.

2 Find CLOSED Facebook “Dunning Reads A Book A Day” group:

With parent help and supervision, have your child post a picture of a book he/she read or a video of him/her reading. Then, on the tracking sheet, check off that he/she posted on Facebook.

3. Watch the Facebook “Dunning Reads A Book A Day” group for videos of Dunning teachers reading aloud books. Then, on the recording sheet write down the name of the teacher who read the book!

In the Fall, we will celebrate our community of readers with Dunning Swag, book commercials and a slide show of our readers. We will also raffle off some gift cards to purchase books for our winners and their classrooms!

We can’t wait to hear about all the good books Dunning Pandas read this summer!
