This pyramid contains 5 “pillars” which are THEME, SETTING, CHARACTER, CONFLICT and RESOLUTION. At the end of the weekly process, students will have enough content to create their first play.  

O clube tem como objetivo analisar diferentes aspectos do teatro, especialmente dramaturgia e análise de roteiro. Toda semana os alunos escrevem uma porção de uma pirâmide. Essa pirâmide contém 5 "pilares": TEMA, LOCAL, PERSONAGEM, CONFLITO e RESOLUÇÃO. No final do processo semanal, os alunos terão conteúdo suficiente para criar sua primeira peça.

Every week students will watch the Video. There will be a total of 5 videos related to the playwriter’s  pyramid. For every pyramid video, students will take notes on their own creations based on the theme of the video. For example, the topic of WEEK 1 Video was THEME. Students take notes on THEME so that they can start elaborating on THEME for their play. The Video for WEEK 2 involves SETTING. Students are to take notes on potential SETTINGS for their story to take place. This will go on for 5 weeks. Then, other videos will complement their process of creating the 5 pillars of the PLAY. 

Toda semana os alunos assistem ao vídeo. Haverá um total de 5 vídeos relacionados à pirâmide dramatúrgica. Para cada vídeo referente a  pirâmide, os alunos anotam suas próprias criações com base no tema do vídeo. Por exemplo, o tópico do vídeo da SEMANA  1  foi TEMA. Os alunos fazem anotações  sobre o TEMA para que possam começar a elaborá-lo para a peça. O vídeo da SEMANA 2 envolve AMBIENTAÇÃO. Os alunos devem fazer anotações sobre possíveis AMBIENTAÇÕES para que sua estória ocorra. Isso continuará por 5 semanas. Step 4. Using a hair dryer on high heat, begin to blow

           the heat on the egg until the egg wrap shrinks                  

           tightly.

Using household items, make your own version of your favorite buzzing instrument!

• 1 toilet paper roll
• Wax Paper   
• Scissors  
• 1 rubber band  
• 1 pen or pencil  
• (Optional) Paint or markers for decoration  

Activity Instructions

1. OPTIONAL: Before you start making your kazoo, you can decorate your toilet paper roll with either acrylic paint or markers. You can create a pattern, a character, or an object on the surface of your instrument! If you use paint, let it dry before you continue with the activity. 
2. Remove a piece of wax paper. Place your toilet paper roll vertically on the paper, and trace around the circle at the base with your pen or pencil.   
3. Cut your circle out, cutting about an inch wider than the one you drew.   
4. Take your circle of wax paper, place it perpendicular to one of the openings of the tube, fold the edges over, and secure it with the rubber band.   
5. Somewhere on the outside of the toilet paper roll, poke a hole with scissors. This is necessary for the sound to escape - otherwise, it’s not a musical instrument!   
6. Congratulations! Buzz your very best!

 Students will press and dry fresh flowers in a microwave to make framed arrangements.

1. Fold a sheet of 8 x 10 paper and then open it flat 
2. Place flowers on right side of paper
3. Fold the left side over to cover the flowers 
4. Place folded paper inside a folded paper towel   
5. Place all of this on a heavy plate   
6. Place another heavy plate on top of folded paper towel to press the flowers inside 
7. Place the plates inside the microwave, heat for one minute or a little longer to dry if necessary
8. Use an oven mitt if needed to take plates out
9. Repeat this process until you have enough flowers
10. Arrange dried flowers inside picture frames

Using three household ingredients, create foam paint that will make your artwork 3D!

Length of Activity

(overnight paint drying time required)

Materials

• Shaving cream
• School glue (Elmer’s or another brand)
• Plastic sandwich bags
• Food coloring
• Scissors 
• Semi-rigid art surface (oak tag or construction paper preferred, but plain white paper is fine)
• Optional: Colored pencils, markers, or crayons
• Optional: measuring cup

Activity Instructions

1. Optional: Using your coloring materials, draw an outline on your paper of what you would like to create.
2. Inside one of the plastic bags, combine equal parts shaving cream and school glue. You can change the ratio to get your desired consistency, but I like using ¼ cup of each. 
3. Put your desired amount of food coloring (probably 1-3 drops) in the bag. Zip the bag shut and squish it together until the three ingredients are nicely mixed. 
4. Using your scissors, cut off one of the bottom corners of the bag. 
5. Squeeze the foam paint through the opening and onto the paper, much like you would with icing on a cake. 
6. Repeat steps 2-5 with as many different colors of foam paint that you would like. 
7. Leave your artwork to solidify overnight. The next day, you’ll have a 3D masterpiece!

• ***This activity is meant to follow the Virtual Piano Tutorial Video from the CRD website***

Activity Instructions

1. Open the website virtualpiano.net 
2. Click on the orange “Menu” Button.
3. (Optional) Change the background color to your preference. 
4. Make sure the menu says “Key Assist ON”. If it is set to OFF, click on the label to switch it. 
5. Every key should now be labeled with either a lowercase letter or a number. Each of these is a key on your computer’s QWERTY keyboard that will make that note sound. Experiment with a few of them. 
6. Open the document “STAR WARS - Letter Guide for Virtual Piano” . This document has letters written on it. When you play the letters in the order they’re presented, you will be playing the notes to the main theme from “Star Wars”!

Cup or bowl, (hot water- ask your parents for help if need be, BE CAREFUL!), paper towels, towel, make up brushes, and antibacterial solution

Activity Instructions

1.     Squeeze a dollop of gentle shampoo into a glass/mug and fill with warm water

2.    Swirl your brushes in the water and gently massage the bristles to further remove the gunk

3.    Rinse with clean water and carefully squeeze the water out

4.    Lay flat to dry

5.     For day-to-day cleaning, use a brush cleaner. For intense washing, use anti-bacterial soap

6.    Pour a small amount of the antibacterial solution or liquid antibacterial soap into a small cup and dip your brush to saturate

7.     Gingerly swirl the brush on a paper towel which will absorb the cleanser, taking the dirt with it.

1. Have an adult slice the fruit or vegtable so that you can access the seeds.
2. Dig up some soil from an area in your yard and place the soil into the clay pot or plastic container.
3. Put 3 -5 seeds on the soil 
4. Cover the seeds with about 1/2inch of soil. 
5. Water the seeds so that the soil is moist. Be careful not to over water. 
6. Place the container in a sunny location.
7. Water 2 times a week or when the soil is dry.

1. Collect materials that you will be using for your nature portraits.  I suggest leaves, sticks, flowers… Try to use materials on the ground instead of picking them off a tree or plant.
2. Choose what you would like to create -- a face, an animal, a spaceship, … ?
3. Arrange your materials on a plain background: a driveway or sidewalk, or on a plain piece of paper

• Follow along with Ms. McDermott (Walsh Middle School) as she shows you: 
• a quick intro to the piano 
• the numbers that match up with each finger when playing the piano
• A piano visual of each line of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” 
• Pictures that represent “Ode to Joy” using JUST the numbers for each finger
• The whole song on the piano

Club Description

The GSA is a club that promotes Acceptance of everyone at Walsh and beyond.  It is a space where students can meet weekly and feel free to be who they are in an accepting and safe environment.  In addition to being a support group we organize activities for the entire Walsh community to help educate about LGBTQ issues.  During the final trimester we will be working on our participation in the Day of Silence.
