Department of Safety and Security
  • The Department of Safety and Security is responsible for the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors while on Framingham Public Schools' property. The department is managed by Scott Penrod, the Director of Safety and Security, who works closely with all FPS Departments, the Framingham Police and Fire Departments.

School Resource Officers - Overview

  • Two School Resource Officers (SROs) are funded by and assigned to the Framingham Public Schools (FPS) by the Framingham Police Department (FPD). The 2022 School Resource Officer (SRO) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) details the specific relationship between the Framingham Public Schools and the Framingham Police Department. The MOU is reviewed and signed annually by FPS and FPD to ensure compliance and fidelity.

  • Framingham Public Schools is committed to supporting the mental, social and emotional health of our students and our budget reflects that support. For the 2022-2023 school year,funding to support our students in these areas includes the following:

    • $1,682,400 for Psychologists

    • $2,362,062 for Guidance Counselors

    • $2,499,168 for Social Workers

    • $384,053 for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and

    • $418,222 for Assistant Behavior Analysts (ABAs)

     

    Framingham Public Schools filed (22) Child Requiring Assistance (CRA) cases where parents or caregivers or school officials ask the court to help supervise a child in need; and (6) Failure to Send complaints during the 2021/2022 school year specifically relating to a child not attending school when legally required to do so.

     

    The number of school-based arrests and citations made in the previous year, disaggregated as required by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is included in the attached FPS Involvement at Framingham Public Schools Report.
