Dr. Frank Tiano, Assistant Superintendent for Community Development & Engagement
Dr. Frank Tiano joined Framingham Public Schools in July, 2015 as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools and now serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Community Development and Engagement. Prior to his arrival in Framingham, Dr. Tiano served in the Chelmsford Public School District for 15 years, the last 5 as Superintendent, and 10 years in the Nashua Public School District. Over his 27 year professional career, Dr. Tiano has held the position of elementary teacher; elementary assistant principal; elementary principal; middle school principal; assistant superintendent; and superintendent.
In 2014, Dr. Frank Tiano was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as one of 100 top school leaders from across the nation to participate in the first-ever National Connected Superintendents Summit at the White House. Dr. Tiano was among exemplary school leaders who were recognized for their leadership in helping transition their districts to digital learning.
A versatile leader, Dr. Tiano served as President of the Merrimack Valley Superintendents Association and was awarded 'Service Above Self' by the Chelmsford Rotary. Dr. Tiano has been a featured speaker for the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents on a variety of topics, such as school safety, incident management, oversight of special education programs, as well as, preparing the community for educational change. He is a member of the Global Studies/21st Century Superintendents Network and has supplemented his studies with field based experiences around the educational systems of Finland, Germany, and Poland(2017).
Dr. Tiano holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Bentley College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Simmons College, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
