Goals of the Food Service Program

    • Serve meals that incorporate a variety of foods that are appealing to children and which follow the dietary guidelines and meet the meal pattern requirements for lunch and breakfast established by the United States Department of Agriculture.

    • Ensure every child an opportunity to participate and receive the benefits of the school breakfast and lunch program regardless of race, creed, national origin, sex or income.

    • Prepare and serve meals in a clean, orderly, safe, and attractive environment.

    • Increase student participation by promoting school breakfast and lunch through advertising and merchandising.

    • Encourage employees to work cooperatively with other school nutrition personnel, teachers, administrations, support staff members, board members, and parents to assure every child an opportunity to receive the benefits of the school nutrition program.

    • Encourage personal and professional growth of all school nutrition personnel by conducting personnel evaluations and offering staff development training.

    • Evaluate the entire program for needs and effectiveness through reviews, records and reports.
