All of Brophy's "standard" art materials are provided through the building budget and the Fine Arts Dept., but many of the extra supplies used on a regular basis come from the grocery store, Walmart/Target, CVS, etc. If you happen to be swinging down some shopping aisles and are looking for an easy way to help out the art room, a donation of any of the following would be greatly appreciated: tissues, paper lunch bags (any size is great, but they mostly use 'small'), plastic storage bags (again, any size- snack, sandwich, quart, gallon, and their FAVORITE - two-gallon (yup, you read that right- they exist and they are fantastic- though they only seem to appear at Target), white label stickers, white washcloths, and erasers (any shape, style or size). Hand wipes would be helpful as well! Thank you, from the bottom of our heARTs!

Framingham, MA – December 21, 2018: Dr. Frank Rothwell, Principal of Brophy Elementary School, is pleased to announce Ms. Caitlin Long as the new Vice Principal of Brophy Elementary School. Ms. Long is hopeful to begin working at Brophy by early February.
Describing the search process, Dr. Rothwell explained, “Ms. Long experienced several rounds of interviews and had the opportunity to meet with our educators, students, central office leaders, and parents. All stakeholders were given opportunities to provide feedback and all comments were reviewed and considered. Overwhelmingly, people who met with Ms. Long were impressed with her contagious enthusiasm, strong theoretical knowledge, diverse academic experiences, and eagerness to work with our students. Throughout her time with us she emphasized the importance of building relationships with children, staff, and students’ caregivers.”
“I am so excited to begin working with Brophy students, teachers, and families and to be joining a school community committed to caring for and educating all children, and one that values bilingualism and multiculturalism,” said Ms. Long. “I am thrilled to begin working alongside teachers, families, and students.”
About Caitlin Long
Ms. Long earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Classics from Boston College, a Master of Education in Secondary Education in History from Boston College, and is presently enrolled in a Ph.D. program concentrating on Curriculum & Instruction in Leadership, Policy, and Educational Change at Boston College. Ms. Long has extensive experience working with English Learners in multiple capacities as a teacher in the Everett Public Schools, as a facilitator of professional development, and as a researcher at Boston College. Prior to coming to Brophy, Ms. Long worked for an organization that provides tailored support services for students. Outside of education, she loves to travel, read, cook, and take advantage of New England summers and winters.

As we encounter warmer weather tomorrow, I am recommending that teachers open classroom windows as it makes sense during the day to ensure proper air flow in classrooms. Families may wish to apply repellent on their children before school and/or send them to school in long pants/long-sleeve shirts as an added precautionary measure.
Stakeholders with relevant expertise from the community are invited to participate in the Screening Committee.
