Hello, I'm Mrs. Wong. Welcome to |
Hello, I'm Mrs. Wong and I've been Technology Specialist at Dunning since 2004. Technology is an important part of our world today. At Dunning we incorporate it into the curriculum wherever possible to provide our students with the exposure to enrich the curriculum and familiarize them with the tools they need to succeed in the world today.
2010-2011 brought many exciting technology changes to Dunning. The biggest of which was the newly built media center in the school library and the new desktop computers for the media center funded largely by our wonderful PTO and suplemented by the district. We are so excited about this wonderful space for our students!
All students from Kindergarten to 5th grade have access to computers and the internet. We are wireless at Dunning! Dunning is set up with internet access in each classroom and a wireless environment to facilitate mobile computing. We have two mobile labs and our new media center in the library. Each mobile lab is equipped with 24 iBooks and can be used in all the classrooms. In addition to the mobile labs, Dunning has two mobile A/V carts with LCD projector, document camera and a laptop computer installed with Mimio software and the Mimio Teach Bar. Mimio is interactive white board technology which can bring lessons and learning alive in the classrooms.
We use scanners and digital cameras to enhance student and staff experiences throughout the school year. Literacy is one of the core values at Dunning and desktop publishing enriches this identity, helping students to write, illustrate and publish thier own books. If you have a digital camera or digital video camera that you no longer need, please consider donating it to Dunning. Contact me for more information.
An increase in technology usage also means an increase in technology related expenses such as printer toners and cartridges, batteries, CDs for memory storage and other consumables. Luckily we have the support of our wonderful PTO. We are also members of recycling fundraisers such as Cartridge World, FundingFactory and Pace Butler Cell Phone Recycling. Visit the Fundraising page for more information.
If you would like to donate any computer equipment and/or peripherals (no printers please) to Dunning please visit the Donations page. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
