Eight Grade Math Placement
According to the eighth grade standards in our Massachusetts Math 2011 Framework, all eighth grade students need to learn concepts that were formerly taught in eighth grade algebra. To align with these standards, all eighth grade students will take Integrated Algebra. However, students who have demonstrated exceptional proficiency in mathematics as measured by the criteria below, will be enrolled in the new Common Core State Standards Algebra course. This course is rigorous, accelerated, and requires that students engage in summer work during seventh grade in addition to meeting the following criteria:

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a multi-state consortium working together to develop a common se t of K-12 assessments in English and math anchored in what it takes to be ready for college and careers. MAP Information for Parents:
Please download and read the Parent Tool Kit provided by NWEA with information about the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments that will be given to students in grades 3 through 8. The Tool Kit has been translated into Portuguese and Spanish by FPS. More information is available on the NWEA website.
