FRENCH
Basic Text: Discovering French: Bleu, Valette D.C. Heath, 1998
Lessons: Unites 3-5
Brief Statement of Subject Matter:
The objectives of the grade 7 curriculum are to enable the students to understand, speak, read and write basic sentence patterns with emphasis on building vocabulary for real communication. Written work and grammatical structure are included in the curriculum. Units of French culture, including those French-speaking countries outside of France, are also incorporated.
General Objectives:
- Student will speak with correct pronunciation in a guided situation within the limits of the learned vocabulary structure with which he/she is conversant. The target language will be used by students and teachers except when clarification and grammatical explanations are necessary.
- Student can answer questions in writing and express basic original thoughts using known structure and vocabulary.
- Student will read aloud with correct pronunciation, phrasing and inflection and also demonstrate understanding of the material read.
- Student will demonstrate interest and awareness of French-speaking cultures by preparing project(s) related to French-speaking cultures.

- Student will demonstrate interest and awareness of Spanish-speaking culture by preparing project(s) related to Spanish-speaking cultures.
