PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Brief Statement of Subject Matter:
This program emphasizes active participation in a wide variety of physical activities including individual, team and recreational sports. All students are required to take and pass physical education. Every activity is coeducational and as varied as possible.
An after-school sports program is available to all students who are interested in participating in a more advanced team or individual sport. These sports include tennis, tackle football, aerobics, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and track and field. All programs are free of charge and transportation is provided.
General Objectives:
Students will be able to:
- Demonstrate competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
- Apply movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
- Exhibit a physically active lifestyle.
- Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
- Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
- Demonstrate understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
- Understand that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction.

The students will be provided with factual health information to promote wellness, positive attitudes and behaviors, good communication skills, and healthy decision-making skills.
