A Quick Look At The Framingham Public Schools
The Framingham Public School District educates more than 8,000 students in preschool through high school. More than 86% of Framingham High graduates continue in post-secondary education, compared to 75% statewide. Nearly 85% of Framingham teachers have advanced degrees. Many staff members have earned state and national recognition in their specialties. Boston Magazine cited the Framingham Public Schools as one of the top ten values in public education in eastern Massachusetts (April 2004).
Enrollment: The district’s enrollment mirrors the socio-economic and cultural diversity of the town. Over 60 different languages are spoken by students attending Framingham schools, and approximately one-third of students come from homes where English is not the dominant language. Nearly 30% of students come from low-income homes as indicated by federal poverty guidelines for free and reduced-priced lunches.
Goals: The district is committed to the most complete development of each student. Educational programs are designed to provide all students with the knowledge and skills necessary for leading a worthwhile life in a free, multi-cultural society.
