CLASSROOM RULES
Students must report to class ON TIME with all necessary materials. Daily materials include instrument, pencil and folder.
Students must sit in assigned section with instrument in rest position. There is positively NO GUM CHEWING.
Students are not permitted to leave their seat during rehearsal.
INSTRUMENTS
All instruments must be in working order at the start of every rehearsal. This includes having at least 3 good reeds and having valves oiled before class. Students must label their instrument case and folder with their name and homeroom. Drummers should label the drum, stand and case. Instruments should be placed in the appropriate cabinet before homeroom, and can be picked up after school.
Instruments are NOT allowed to stay in the cabinets over the weekend or during vacations.
Students are expected to practice over the weekends and vacations.
PRACTICE
Click this link to print out a practice record : /cameron/specials/Practice%20Record.doc
All instrumental students are required to practice ONE HOUR per rotation. Practice time is plotted on a graph and signed by a parent each week. Practice is checked at the beginning of each rehearsal. Only up to 2 practices will be accepted in any given week.
Students must have required practices at the end of each term to receive an "A". Each missing practice lowers the grade one step.
(8=A, 7=A-, 6=B+ etc…) Private lessons outside of school are strongly suggested for all!
GRADING
In addition to the required practice records students must do the following to receive an "A":
** Sign-up and attend at least 2 Lessons per term
· Attend both concerts: Jan. 12, 2012 & May 31, 2012
· Come to every rehearsal with an instrument, folder and pencil
· Pass various playing and written quizzes throughout the year.
· Take instrument home every weekend and/or holiday
Students will be allowed to earn extra credit by passing in extra practice or attending extra lessons**.
**LESSONS/ CHAMBER GROUPS
Mrs. Dupuis is available for individual lessons and chamber groups during the school day. Lessons may also be given after school or during homeroom. A sign-up sheet is at the front of the classroom. Students are allowed to sign-up for a lesson or chamber group once every 6 day rotation if they wish. Students are only required to attend 2 lessons each trimester. Students are responsible for any class work missed during a lesson. A lesson pass must be signed by the classroom teacher.
