Focus Statement
A coordinated whole school effort to have all
Brophy students show measurable growth in
comprehending text and understanding vocabulary
as demonstrated in school-wide, district and State
mandated assessments.


Mission Statement

  Brophy School has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, a child-centered teaching approach and a highly qualified and dedicated staff. Brophy School staff members work with the parent community as well as the greater Framingham community to meet the needs of its diverse population.

  • A community of professionals that is collegial, shares best practices and embraces the community of students and families that the school serves
  • Active engagement with the parent community at school as well as resources beyond the school that include: Genzyme Corporation, the Callahan Senior Center, Framingham State College, Wellesley College and Lincoln Sudbury High School
  • A partnership with Boston College that supports the needs of ELL students and students with special needs
  • Three new committees, “Curriculum Development and Design, Multilingual/Multicultural and Community Involvement have been created to look at aspects of the bilingual education, integration and parent involvement school wide
  • The initiation of the “Intervention Team” which has resulted in less referrals for special education services through targeted academic assistance for at-risk students
  • Professional Development opportunities including, DOE Reading Academy, based on the five building blocks of reading
  • Students in grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 participate in Kids Who Care, a service learning organization that supports opportunities for students to give back to the community
  • A Nationally renowned recorder club, made up of fourth and fifth graders, that has performed at local venues such as the Memorial House, as well as conferences in Boston and Connecticut
  • A Health and Wellness initiative sponsored by the Metro West Community Health Foundation that provides fourth and fifth graders health education and fitness classes after the regular school day
  • A Character Development/Social Competency program that creates school wide expectations for student behavior, expectations and consistent adult language where students demonstrate a sense of responsibility to their own learning and behavior
  • A pilot program utilizing iPods to assist older students with difficulty in reading to access grade level reading materials in and out of school
