General InformationMembershipAll parents or guardians of Barbieri students are members of the PTO; there is no fee to join. Meetings are generally scheduled for the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM in the school library. Free child-care and Spanish translation is provided at every meeting. In addition to PTO business, from time to time we will have guest speakers on topics of interest to most parents. LeadershipThe PTO leadership is made up of five elected positions and many sub-committees. There is one President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. Subcommittees include but are not limited to: Fund raising, Creative Arts, Grant writing, Multicultural Night, etc. PurposeOne of the roles of the PTO is fund-raising. Money generated by the PTO pays for: enrichment activities, social events, field trip scholarships, computer room expenses, new library & literacy center books. We also support funding for school improvement projects and classroom supplies not covered in the school budget. The other is support and involvement. Our teachers and parents give their time and their talents with their hearts. ProgrammingEnrichment Activities: The PTO funds and coordinates many programs that reinforce the school's academic studies such as: Creative Arts, Poetry Night, Author's Day, Spelling Bee, Math League, Chess Club, Math Club, and Spanish Club. Social Events: The PTO sponsors activities that promote socialization and a deeper understanding of our diversity like the Parents Welcome Coffee, Multicultural Night, Kindergarten Picnic, Staff Appreciation Luncheon, and many other exciting events. The PTO has sponsored community events benefiting the Red Cross, local food pantries, and Framingham Ed Foundation. Get InvolvedAttending PTO meetings is a great way to stay informed and get involved. If unable to attend there are still many ways for you to get involved:1) Volunteer for a committee at Open House or during the Spring Sign-Up 2) Read the PTO meeting minutes: For Parents > PTO > PTO Meeting Minutes 3) Call (508-872-0275) or email the PTO President, Cristina Sandza-Donovan (sandazadonovan@gmail.com) 4) Come to our monthly dinner nights out 5) Check the school website for updates throughout the year The Barbieri E-mail Loop may be used by parents and faculty of Barbieri Elementary in Framingham, MA to share news and information about our community. This group can also be used to recruit volunteers for school-related activities or events. We welcome messages in Spanish or English.
